Cap awarded

Presentation of Cap on 17th August 2008

A photo of Timothy Stanbury receiving his LBH cap from Coach David Sear.  Well done Tim and we hope you'll be enjoying your cricket with us for many years to come.

LBH Cricket awards caps to young Kwik Cricketers based on the number of times they appear at our weekly practise sessions.

When they've been with us for coaching at least 5 times they get a black Cap.  Also, if they play in 2 competitive Kwik Cricket tournaments for us
they qualify for a black cap.

Kwik Cricket Super 8s Finals 13th July

The Kwik Cricket team did us proud today in the County finals at Gore Court.

We're hoping to get a more detailed report for this website, but at the time of writing our understanding is LBH came fourth out of the 24 teams at the Finals.

Both LBH and Marden went through from the initial group stage. Marden beat us in the next group in what was in effect a semi final. We then lost in the play off final to Ashford and then Marden were beaten in the final by a very strong Tunbridge Wells side.

More important there was some excellent cricket and lots of fun, so much so that we're hoping to arrange an Under 9 hardball match with Marden during the holidays!

Our considerable thanks must also go to David Sear for coaching the LBH team from the beginning and to Martin McCague who helped out enormously with organising the team.

We're also very grateful to Pradeep Parmar and Jonny Aucamp who took cameras to Gore Court and for allowing us to use their photographs in these slideshows. Enjoy!

Kwik Cricket Festival 15th June

20080618KCLogoNegative.jpgOn Sunday 15th June, Leeds and Broomfield Cricket Club hosted the second of the Kent Under 9s "Super 8s" Festival tournaments with teams from LBH, Marden, Bearsted and Headcorn amongst others.

It was a really close tournament between 6 teams on an all-play-all basis.  A match consisted of 8 four-ball overs with each player bowling one over.  Batsman batted in pairs and faced two overs.  Sides started with 200 runs and scored runs in the traditional ways but lost 5 runs each time a wicket went down.

The whole thing kicked off at 8:30am with a blue sky, bags of enthusiasm and the smell of tea, coffee and bacon butties wafting out of the Pavilion!  Never a scene like it at Burberry Lane before that is for sure!

The Cricket was non-stop - except for a juice and biscuit break for all the players between each round of matches!  The whole event went down to the very last match when LBH squeezed a win over Marden A off the very last ball of the 8th over.

It was an excellent game of cricket, played tactically by both sides and would have done itself justice if it had taken place in any other format of the game.

LBH and Marden now go on to the regional finals to be held at Gore Court on 13th July.

You might like to see some of the photos from that day.
